An Overview of The Rusty Staub Foundation's Impact
On Catholic Charities' Feeding Our Neighbors Program
January 8, 2018
I am pleased to share an update of the impact The Rusty Staub Foundation's support has had on Catholic Charities' comprehensive approach to address hunger in the New York City metropolitan area. Over the past ten years, program sites that benefit from our help have collectively served 9,043,741 meals to New Yorkers in need.
As a result of our support, Catholic Charities has been able to reach neighborhoods that were otherwise inaccessible, propel thousands of individuals and families toward greater self-sufficiency, build the service capacity of partner parishes and community organizations, and, most recently, launch an emergency food distribution hub. Ensuring overall health through the meals and advice we provide is an overarching goal for this program.
With the inception of the Rusty Staub Mobile Pantry in 2004, we began identifying and reaching underserved neighborhoods that would otherwise not have access to help. In its trail, the mobile pantry has left 24 partner sites trained and equipped to operate their own programs.
Funds from The Rusty Staub Foundation help Catholic Charities also ensure that those who turn to us in need of a meal may also receive guidance from professional case managers for needs that extend beyond hunger. In the last year, case managers helped 439 vulnerable households increase their monthly income and receive monthly nutrition support through enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Access Program (SNAP). In the last decade, thousands of families have been directed toward the resources they need to achieve greater independence. The Rusty Staub Foundation remains dedicated to Catholic Charities' vision of adapting efficiently as opportunities to better serve our communities emerge.
All this could not be achieved without the support of donors like you. Please mark your calendar for this year's events, which in part support this tremendous scope of work:
